A message from Donna Miller, our head cook
Food For Life Partnership - An introduction95% of our lunch and breakfasts are freshly made daily by our cooks.
Our meats are organic and supplied locally by Longwood
Farm in Suffolk. We only use free range eggs and organic fruit and
veg and our lovely organic yoghurt is supplied by Fresher by Miles in
Kent.
We grow various types of fruit and vegetables. All organic waste is turned into compost on site and we aim to create a sustainable healthy eco-system within the schools grounds. Biodiversity is a key part of the development of the school grounds and the long term success of how our produce grows.
The quantity of food and variety of food we grow is increasing each year. All the food we grow is grown without using any chemicals or unnatural materials. Most food is grown from seeds and the rest is planted as plug plants. Children are an integral part of the process from the sowing and planting to the care and harvesting, they water and nurture the food we grow.
The growing of food is an important life skill and knowledge about food and a healthy diet is the root of our work at the school. We have been awarded the Food For Life GOLD award and this is a marker of our commitment to organic sustainable food related work here at the school.
