Olympic Champion

Last Friday, Year 5 and Year 6 had a special visit from Lady Kim Van Dijk, an Olympic Champion from the Netherlands. Lady Van Dijk received a gold medal for Cycling during the London 2012 Paralympic games. During the games, she cycled with a blind partner cycling behind her. She has been knighted by the King of the Netherlands and has received a gold medal from him.

She came in to speak to the children about her inspirational journey as an Olympic athlete. They discussed the idea of aspirational goals and determination. The children had the chance to hold the medals. She was presented with a copy of ‘Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls’ by Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo.
